![]() Tried the point & click modus, decided that it wasn't playable that way too. When you both get sick to the stumach every time, you very fast learn to connect the game to feeling miserable. We solved it by not playing Obduction anymore. He also plays a game on the X-box for hours: no problem. Originally posted by Belle:I can play World of Warcraft for hours. I think they use an old engine or very old video driver. But nothing got better on the 3D department since URU. I also bought the Myst 3D, a waste of money now. ![]() ![]() That particular kind of "3d" is actually attempting to "fool" the brain into creating depth along the z-axis where there is actually no depth simulation at all-very much unlike "real" 3d where the z-axis (depth) is entirely simulated inside the computer game's "presentation stage." (D3d, OpenGL, Vulkan, are examples of "real" 3d-they don't require the glasses, etc.) Looking at the monitor screen is not like "real life." Best comparison I know of is how some people can tolerate fake "3d" while it makes other people very sick, very fast. Everyone's eye-brain coordination is different-ie, what makes one person nauseous might not provoke nausea at all in 100 other people. Originally posted by waltc:People have yet to grasp that this kind of nausea is not a simple issue like vsync on/off, etc. What a great game! Totally worth the effort. Supposedly the FDA has approved them for side effect-free motion sickness relief. If that hadn't worked, I was considering trying a Sea-Band accupressure band. It still messes with my vision a little, but not bad. I can happily report that on the third day, and each day thereafter, I have not felt any nausea. I suppose you could switch to the point and click setting, but that's pretty sucky when free movement is possible. I worked on making my mouse movements more smooth and also I side-step instead of turning when I need to make a little jog. I started closing my eyes when getting in and out of the cart and that helped a little with that, but walking (and in particular panning) was still pretty rough. I slowed my input sensitivity too and that did help a little, but I still felt icky almost immediately and could tolerate only about an hour. I had to limit my playtime to an hour or so. (I've never experienced it in the real world.) At first it was fairly significant. I get motion sickness from this game too (on PC), and it's the only time I've experienced it in any game. But if it only happens with a single game out of *many* games then I would think just tinkering as I suggest should solve the problem. I would suggest people who get sick with nausea in a particular game experiment with vsync conditions and refresh rates and resolutions until they find settings which don't produce nausea-might even need to buy a newer monitor that supports a much wider gamut of refresh rates, etc. People have yet to grasp that this kind of nausea is not a simple issue like vsync on/off, etc.
